My name is Mynor Ramos, a Guatemalan/American raised in Chicago
I’ve spent my professional career with large companies in Finance, specialized in Mortgage Banking and Insurance.
While I’ve been financially rewarded and have collaborated with many professionals, I’ve found more satisfaction in knowing that a client has received the financial solution they were hoping for. Somehow, I often felt like I could do more for my clients. Was there a bigger purpose?
I wish I didn’t get that call or text message that would turn my world upside down and inside out. Although I have faced many challenges throughout my life, nothing could have prepared me for the summer of 2021.
That summer, I was hospitalized together with our second daughter, Kayla. She was a University of South Florida, American Sign Language student. This was her last semester at USF.
We spent 10 days in the hospital, and we would FaceTime, text and call often to see how we were feeling. On day 11, Kayla was moved to the ICU. At the same time, I fought hard to prove to the nurse and physical therapist that I was well enough to be released. The next day, on day 12, I was released but that’s where my world would change forever.
I can’t imagine any parent going through what we were going through without having hope and faith. We prayed and waited every single day in the hospital. In December of 2021 we would experience the biggest paradox of heavy grief and pain contrasted by unfathomable peace and resolve, which we call A Day of Glory. The physical separation was and continues to be excruciating. We have found our hope in knowing that “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord”. December 12, 2021 was our baby girl’s heavenly birthday.
I had the epiphany of two essential aspects of this journey. The first is that loss and grief doesn’t make an announcement as to when and to whom it will strike. The second is preparing financially for these situations will NOT take the pain away, it creates a path to recovery for the rest of the family.
I now focus on educating families on getting their financial house in order. I call it Your Family’s Legacy Plan.Everyone has a plan, the reckless one (Avoidance Factor) or the one you carefully prepare with the help of a professional (A Contract That You Control). My life’s mission is to educate individuals and families about financial matters beyond budgeting, banking, real estate and assets - it’s about legacy and preparing for worst case scenarios.
